The Master of 艺术 (M.A.) in Applied Linguistics prepares students to pursue advanced graduate study, teach in colleges, adult education programs, businesses, private schools and institutions in the U.S. 还是在国外, work with private businesses, and help meet the language acquisition needs of second language learners. The Program takes pride in the international, intercultural, 学术, and professional experience it offers to students from all over the world, including Germany, 俄罗斯, 斯洛文尼亚, 纳米比亚, 尼日利亚, 塞内加尔, Saudi Arabia, 突尼斯, Afghanistan, 缅甸, 中国, 印尼, 玻利维亚, 等. Program Highlights

The program offers two concentrations--教学 英语 to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) and Sociolinguistics--which are uniquely intertwined.

TESOL International Association considers a Master's degree in TESOL or related area to be the terminal degree for teaching positions in 英语 as a second, 外国, or additional language.

Students may earn a Certificate in 教学 英语 to Speakers of Other Languages and/or use appropriate courses in the program toward obtaining a Commonwealth of Virginia Endorsement for 英语 as a Second Language (ESL) if they already have a teaching license.

英语 Language and Literature Teachers, Postsecondary
Teach courses in 英语 language and literature, including linguistics and comparative literature. Includes both teachers primarily engaged in teaching and those who do a combination of teaching and research.
Requirements
入学 for the program is done on a rolling basis. 然而, to be considered for an assistantship, please submit your application by March 15th for Fall semester and October 1st for Spring semester.
